What is biodiversity?

Biodiversity is the whole variety of living organisms that exist in this planet, the relation among them and the environment where they live and thrive.

Why is biodiversity important?

The importance of biodiversity lies in the existing direct and close interrelation among all living organisms, including the human beings and the components of their environment.
Consequently, an alteration of any of these elements means the alteration of the rest of related elements.

On the other hand, Central American biodiversity, represented by forests, species and genetic resources is being threatened by activities little or not sustainable at all, with negative impact as loss or reduction of it.

In short, it can be stated that if biodiversity continues decreasing, the well-being and future of mankind is being compromised. Consequently, it has to be used wisely in order to conserve it.
